This was the weekend we would make soap with Judy’s family. Lunch was “the best burger in town!” aka the only burger in town, but it really was good. After lunch we found our soap maker a few blocks away. We’d be spending the day with Elin Criswell, Author and fourth generation Texas soapmaker, concocting our first bars of soap ever!
Judy went first because this class was her idea. She hunted the internets to find a soapmaker in Texas and that she did.
Judy’s mom & I decided to make soap with goats milk after Elin gave us the option of making it with water or milk. The process took a little longer but that just gave us more time to hang out and enjoy the class.
Of course, we all got a photo with our own handmade batch of soap, and Elin had a small book signing for us after class and we got our group selfie.
Check out Elin Criswell’s website or on Facebook for more information on classes. She was a great teacher and because of her, we are officially soapmakers!!!
