First official trip in the Chalupa!
The first trip in la Chalupita was a work trip to photograph the Elks Foundation Scholars in Atlanta, Georgia!
We decided to take our popup camper to have a little fun in the Smoky Mountain National Park after the work was done. We don’t normally travel East, so this was a good chance to check out what this part of the US has to offer.
Parking the camper in the city
We learned that parking a camper in a big city can be challenging! Originally we planed for a monitored/secured lot to lock her up in, but upon arrival – we found it wasn’t secure at all, so we ended up parking her in a Public Storage lot. This actually worked out for us, as there was a deal for the “first month of storage” and it only cost us a dollar for the time we were in Atlanta #loopholes! This also felt good for security as they had a gate with a lock code and security cameras.
To lock up the camper my father suggested a Proven Industries trailer lock. We also picked up a wheel lock from camping world. These two items made me more comfortable to leave our Chalupa alone in a new city for a few days.
Delights and surprises
Vanessa surprised me with a new wedding band while we were exploring the Smoky Mountains. This made for an unforgettable anniversary/work trip! New ring bling! 💖
